Algeria
It was labelled
a mini renaissance for Algeria by media, but the North Africans were helped
by a relatively friendly schedule.
One sole win was enough
to carry them through to the quarterfinals where they were clearly inferior
to later champions Cameroon.
Algerias biggest problem
had been a lack of impact upfront and some weeknesses in defence. Only
minnows Gabon allowed the former champions to score more than once. |
