Febr 11th
South Africa-Côte d'Ivoire kickoff 17:15 GMT (18:15 MEZ, 12:15 EST)
(situation BEFORE the match: IF Côte d'Ivoire wins, they will be qualified for quarter finals)

1st half action:
-careful begin, then: good attack by South Africa puts CIV into confusion and results in a penalty when #22 Saliou Lassisi fouls #13 Pollen Ndlanya, who is alone in front of the goalkeeper, from behind and is lucky not to receive a card. #11 Mkhalele scores from the spot - 1:0
-3 more attacks find the Ivorian defense in turmoil, #13 Ndlanya hits the crossbar from 7 meters.
-CIV starts to play better, after a mini-opportunity and a free kick into the wall, a #7 Joel Tiehi shot is saved by the goalkeeper ('28)
-South African #10 John Moshoeu hits the cross bar with a sudden granate from 25 meters ('31)
-hole in Ivorian defense created by three defenders attacking one South African player on the left wing who passes on to the left alone #12 Brendan Augustine who misses close from 14m ('32)
-mini opportunities both sides
-beautiful tricky attack by the Ivorian upfront magicians #7 Tiehe and #20 BAkayoko stopped in the last moment ('37)
-two giant opportunities in the closing seconds for Côte d'Ivoire: a cross into the penalty area and two left alone attackers confusing each other when heading for the ball. The second one is #7 Joel Tiehi showing all his magic after passed by the goal-keeper managing to direct the ball towards the goal while being attacked by three defenders but another defender scrapes the ball from the line
-a very entertaining match between the west coast magicians of Côte d'Ivoire who combine attack magic with defensive confusion and a South African team that looks much stronger than it was thought before the tournament
-HALFTIME: 1:0
2nd half action:
-spectacular CIV attack sees Bakayoko header saved by the South African keeper ('47)
-surprise shot by #21 Donald Sie again saved by Brian Baloyi ('49)
-Côte d'Ivoire continues to attack in inspired manor
-('59) freekick of CIV saved, a following direct shot from 10m by Tiehi again saved by a South African keeper who was critisized before the tournament but now starts to become a hero of the match
-('62) another inspired CIV attack involving the miraculous Joel Tiehi, who plays like 1994
-('65) #17 Cyrille Domoraud creates another exciting scene involving Tiehi who is stopped in the last moment 9m in front of the goal
-('67) Donald Sie releases another shot wide
-('74) CIV replaces upfront but keeps tactical formation when they substitute #18 Outtara and #10 Traore for Tiehi and Bakayoko. It seems clever not to change the formation because the Ivorians completely dominate the second half against a terrible passive South African team
-('80) South African counter attack squandered by #11
-('81) Outtara misses close with a 6m shot hitting the net from outside
-('84) counterattack involving the dangerous Benny >Mc Carthy who had been brought as a substitution for #13 before, saved by the keeper
-'a center from the right wing by #22 comes down at the second goal post and finds Outtara who heads it in- 1:1 ('86)
-('88) the huge opportunities for South Africa against an again confused Ivorian defense but they are not converted
-both go for three but it stays
FINAL RESULT: 1:1

match 4

Febr 12th
Angola-Namibia kickoff 18:15 GMT (19:15 MEZ, 13:15 EST)
1st half action:
-good start by Angola, 1st huge opportunity after 10 minutes answered immediately by
-2 huge opportunities for Namibia
-first minutes look like inspired attacks vs. confused defenses in front of good goal keepers. But now the match becomes surprisingly lopsided:
-from 1oth to 20th minute it is all Namibia resulting in:
-('21) a pass beats the offside trap and #8 Uri-Khob curves around the goalkeeper who is 25 meters in fromnt of his goal and put it in - 0:1
-('24) great opportunity for NAmibia missed from a difficult angle
-Angola played hazard with the offside trap now two or three times
-a short pressure phase for Angola around 25th minute
-determined effort of #17 Robert Nauseb against a sleepy defender, he misses close
-Namibia running, Angola walking - The effect:
-A SUPER goal when #15 Johannes Hindjou passes to #17 Nauseb who lops it alongside the keeper: 0:2 ('33)
-('36) great solo of Angola '17 Luis Miguel is stopped by foul before dangerous, the free kick of #6 Paolo Silva into the wall
-Namibians start to play thoughtless adding an extra elegance to their playing style. This leads to a shift of mementum, but anyway...
-('41)A beautiful attack finds #17 alone in front of the goalkeeper lopping it again but missing centimeters. It looked as if the goalkeeper had saved it but the referee decided otherwise
-('44)Angolean #11 misses close from 15m
-('45)Angolean #4 Helder, arguably the last man, is lucky not to get sent off when he fouls the broken through #8 of Namibia
-in injury time #14 wasts another opportunity for Angola
-Namibias progress is like climbing the Mount Evrest with a motorbike, but they already received 3 yellow cards by our very accurate friend. Angola is far from what they were said, they look like believing they are in front
HALFTIME: 0-2
2nd half action:
-('47)Angola #22 Lazaro left alone at the second goalpost converts a corner headed on by an unconcentrated Namibian defense themselves - 1:2
-('51)super free kick: more than 25m, ground ball into the corner by Namibin #8 Uri-Khob. No goal-keeper reaction. - 1:3
-some small opportunities on both sides, but Angola looks cramped and needs some miracle to save them, what comes...
-('68)Namibian #12 tackles Angola #18 inside the penalty area. He touches the ball but the referee decides penalty. #6 Paulo Silva scores - 2:3
-('73)Namibians fighting again, don't want to rely on their defense, conquering the ball from Angolan defenders and are two against the goalkeeper. #8 squanders this opportunity
-('74)A brilliant Angolan attack answers this opportunity but the Namibian goalkeeper saves the first shot, the second shot into the goal came out of offside position so the score remains the same
-('82)A good opp. for Namibia leads to the situation than an Angolean defender deflects the ball arguably with his hands but the referee decides he protected his face (interpretation)
-('84)A dangerous shot by Namibian #17 Nauseb is saved
-('85)A well played counter attack offers another great opportunity for Namibia which #17 cannot convert after the ground caused some ball control problems
-('86)Angolean #18 Miguel Perreira from German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 capitalises from defender #6 error and puts it in from 12m half left - 3:3
-('87)Two Angoleans miss a cross ball alone in front of the keeper against the now chaotic Namibians
-both go for three, but the Namibians seem in hectic
-in injury time: An Namibian attacker (#18) is brought down in the penalty area by a defenders leg and it could have been a penalty for Namibia but the referee's whistle remains silent
-A super trick by #14 Quinzinho offers a last opportunity for Angola
-Namibia displayed enormous offensive potential but by their attitude can never keep their goal clean. They are an exciting team to watch as their goalscore (6:7 in 2 games) shows. Angola did not look like a team for the quarter finals and got away lucky with 1 point.
FINAL RESULT: 3:3

Febr 16th
match3: South Africa - Namibia  kickoff 20:00 GMT (21:00 MEZ, 15:00 EST)
match4: Côte d'Ivoire - Angola  kickoff 20:00 GMT (21:00 MEZ, 15:00 EST)
Both matches are Group C and played simultaniously to avoid giving an advantage to any team.
The situation BEFORE the matches:
South Africa - Namibia: Namibia are the darlings of the tournament. They were frustrated after giving away atwo goal lead against Angola but they should wear their heads high. They are present the first time and compared to other first-timers they did magnificient. They are here to have fun, gain experience and fans all over the world. And it is sure they did that. And they still have a chance:
But they have to knock out a big one: IF Namibia win, they are qualified, IF they lose or draw, they will travel home. IF South Africa win, they are qualified, IF South Africa lose, they will be out. A draw will leave it to the other game. IF Angola wins that one, South Africa will head home. IF Côte d'Ivoire wins, they remain in the tournament. IF there is a draw, it will be a goal-difference (rather the numbers of goals scored) decision between them and South-Africa. Yet they have two goals less scored. What will happen, IF South Africa plays 2-2 and Angola 0-0 remains to be seen...
Côte d'Ivoire - Angola: IF Côte d'Ivoire win or draw, they are qualified for quarterfinals. IF Côte d'Ivoire loses, it depends on the outcome of the other game. IF this is a draw, they march on, IF South Africa wins they are out. IF Namibia wins, a tie-breaker has to be applied. In most cases goal-difference speaks for Namibia then (head to head speaks in favour of Côte d'Ivoire).
IF Angola wins, they are qualified. IF Angola loses they are out. IF there is a draw, Angola needs a draw in the other game tomake it a goal-difference (rather the numbers of goals scored) decision between them and South-Africa. Yet they have two more goals scored. What will happen, IF South Africa plays 2-2 and Angola 0-0 remains to be seen...

1st half action:
-the match sees a concentrated South African beginning
-('3) good solo run by South African #3
-('10) the notion of a helpless Namaibian defence proves at true when #17 McCarthy profites from a bad defenders positioning- 1-0
-('12) throw-in into the penalty area, a defender heads it out in front of the feet of #17 McCarthy who releases a sharp shot from 18m- 2:0
-('15) almost hattrick when #17 takes a centred ball from the left against intimidated defenders
-('19)Hattrick! #17 Benedict McCarthy is alone against the keeper and virtually alone on the field taking a header by Mosheou that passed on a long ball to score from 16m- 3:0
-('20)The South African have fun and don't make the mistake yet to let up. After a fine triangle play there is now goalkeeper in the goal and it is easy for the scorer to make it. Who is he? #17 makes it his fourth in 11 minutes!- 4:0
-since then a tired game with no movement except from the players close to the ball the ball
-('35) a corner for Namibia and a header #8 Uri-Khob is the first ball on the goal of the South African goalkeeper this time #1 Kanalelo
-at the final minutes a bit more life comes into the game from both sides
HALFTIME- 4:0
1st half action:
-Ivorian #14 Tchiressoua Guel scores two goals ('8) and ('23, after Tiehi caused some confusion) to make it 2:0 for Côte d'Ivoire
-Angola answers with a free-kick from 20m when the goal-keeper and the wall did not look too good ('27)
-Joel Tiehi makes it 3:1 after a Bakayoko bycicle kick has set it up('43)
HALFTIME- 3:1

2nd half action:
-the match lacks thrill completely when the first exiting Namibian combination of the match match comes after 60 minutes
-('68) spectacular 25m goal Nambibian #13 Vutani after a defended corner- 4:1
-('75)free kick from the right. Namibian #8 Uri-Khob tries it but South African keeper #1 Kanalelo has it save
-('79)solorun by McCarthy but the Namibian keeper denies the goal. It would have been a save one, had he latheraled the ball
-in the counter attack Namibia has a must-goal opportunity but a great save by the South African keeper denies
FINAL SCORE- 4:1, Namibia out, South Africa moves on
2nd half action:
-Quinzinho heading a cross from left in against pasive defence to make it 3:2 ('52), -Bakayoko ('56) after a fast counter attack and Tiehi with a penalty after a foulplay against the brokenthrough Bakayoko ('81) make it clear- 5:2
FINAL RESULT- 5:2, Côte d'Ivoire wins group, Angola heads home.
