Although Iran has the better
players, Syria looks equally strong. The players run a lot, with a good
fighting spirit and play more simply. What looks more adequate considering
the difficult ground. Everything seems possible in the second half.

- Iran looks more determined
in the first scenes of the second half

halftime for Iran after a free kick from the left wing: Daei's header wide.
Daei and the keeper collide, but can continue after an injury break
-Iran #4 has a good scene
with solo and a following distance attempt which goes wide

it is a big match for the enthusiasrtic home crowd

Iran from the right wing flies to the second post where Bagheri(?) heads
it back to the first goal post where Ali Daei brings in his superior header
potential and heads it into the net - 0:1

Iranian keeper against a free kick from half right

for Syria but the ball tips on the ground and bounces over the empty goal
-Syria fights back now and
gets Iran into trouble
-half chances for both in
a lively match
