Situation before: Tunisa already qualified. Algeria knew the result from the Uganda-Liberia (1:0) match and so was relieved of some pressure. Anyway the match was a great opportunity to get into a better position in the race for the second place.

First half:
Against a new composed Tunisian formation with a casual attitude Algeria clearly dominated and had several good opportunities with only a few Tunisian answers. Both defences did not seem very solid, though Tunisia could rely on their class goalkeeper El Oauer.
At halftime it had been the guests who had fired 7:1 shots on the goal.

Second half:
Just after halftime Algeria missed close on another chance but from that on Tunisia played more aggressive and took apart the Algerian defence easily. The Algerians blew a 100 percent must opportunity on a counter attack but from that on acted more and more nervous.
After Imed Mhedhbi had increased the pressure after 55 minutes with a great individual goal, Algeria was not capable anymore to force a turnaround. A second goal by Tarek Thabet ('90) eventually sealed the match.
Another unlucky story for the Algerians who just seem to need some consecutive successes to rebuild confidence.
In the end shots on each others goals had been even but Tunisia had converted its opportunities.

situation now: Algeria must defeat Uganda at home in two weeks and must rely on Tunisia who play at Liberia the same time. If Liberia wins by a margin that is at least 2 goals higher than Algeria, they will be through instead (for example Algeria wins 1:0, Liberia 3:0).
(If Liberia wins and Algeria-Uganda draw, Liberia will be qualified, if Uganda wins, they will be at the finals.
If Liberia does not win, Algeria will qualify with a win or Uganda with a draw or win)
