Group A

Group A has been labelled as one of the two so-called 'groups of death'.
It contains four quite closely neighboured Western African teams. Of those four three can be counted as at least among the top ten of the continent: Ghana, Cameroon , and Côte d'Ivoire. And with Ghana one of them is the host. The fourth is Togo, complete outsiders. They can play spoilers, if underestimated, especially in their first match against Côte d'Ivoire, with their true form yet hidden.

The opening match of the group is the opening match of the tournament (click on matches for the schedule) and a real highlight to begin with: Ghana vs. Cameroon might produce a severe pressure on a possible loser.
